I am the Albert O. Hirschman Professor in the School of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study.
You will often read that I am at Princeton University, which is not correct. This is a common error arising from the fact that the Institute for Advanced Study is in Princeton, NJ — though not part of or affiliated with the University that bears the name of the town. If you want to find out more about IAS, go to: http://www.ias.edu/. Mind you, I have nothing against PU; I did my graduate work there. It’s just that I am at IAS, not PU.
Before my move to IAS in July 2013, I was the Rafiq Hariri Professor of International Political Economy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
I was born and grew up in Istanbul, Turkey. I still follow Turkish politics very closely, as you will find out if you spend any time with this blog.
